Routine Diabetes Eye Screening – Recommencement
I am writing to inform you that we have now been told to begin seeing routine diabetes eye screening patients again.
Nationally this restart will be phased, with those at higher risk invited first (anyone with known diabetic retinopathy, and those who have failed to attend screening recently).
Patients who are shielding may contact you and ask if they should have screening now. If they do, they should continue to shield until this expires, and then contact us on: eyescreening@nhs.net or Phone: 020 8510 7611 to arrange a convenient appointment.
We intend to have invited everyone who has had their appointment delayed due to coronavirus at least once by the end of January 2021. And everyone with diabetes in North East London will have received at least an invitation to screening by the end of the current financial year.
As in the past, if you have a particular patient you are particularly concerned about please contact us and we will arrange for them to be seen soon (eyescreening@nhs.net).
