Under Review — this page was due to be reviewed by 22 October 2024. The information shown here may be outdated.

The service is for GOS18s- a specialist optometrist reviews your electronic ophthalmology referral and determines what is the best eye care service for your patient.

Audits indicate 40% of GOS18s can be seen by the Minor Eye Conditions Service (MECS) or in primary care.

Please refer when you are unclear what service a patient with an eye condition should be seen by.

Please refer directly to an ophthalmology service if appropriate.

You can also send your own ophthalmology referrals to the service if you are unclear what is the best eye care service for your patient.
