Community Gynaecology provides specialist gynaecology services from the Ivy Centre at St Leonard's Hospital.

There is also a community gynaecology pilot which includes:

  • community gynaecology PCN clinics based in primary care
  • virtual engagement events and group consultations on topics like menopause, menstrual health, fertility and continence
  • training, shadowing and support to develop skills in primary care and other community services

Virtual Patient Engagement Events and Group Consultations


We offer regular Virtual Patient Engagement Events and Group Consultations on topics like Menopause, Menstrual Health, Fertility & Planning Pregnancy, Continence and Contraception.


•    Virtual Engagement Events are larger sessions, with 100-150 attendees and a panel of speakers giving general information and answering general questions.
•    Group Consultations are smaller groups of about 10, where patients have one-to-one consultations in a group setting.
•    We recommend patients attend an engagement event first, then can register for a group consultation afterwards if they need more personalised care.

Eligibility criteria

Inclusions

  • Heavy Menstrual Bleeding 
  • Other bleeding problems (where no indication for hysteroscopy or colposcopy)
  • Secondary Amenorrhoea and Oligomenorrhoea
  • PCOS
  • Dysmenorrhoea and/or Pelvic pain  (consider need for referral to hospital endometriosis service)
  • Advice regarding Fibroids or Adenomyosis where patient does not require or desire surgery
  • Complex Menopause care including Iatrogenic Menopause
  • Premature Ovarian Insufficiency (POI) / Premature Menopause
  • Pre-Menstrual Syndrome (PMS)
  • Cervical polyp
  • Difficult Cervical Smear
  • Vulval pain

 

Exclusions

  • Under the age of 16
  • Suspected cancer
  • Pregnancy problems and/or requests for abortion
  • Patients requiring fertility treatment
  • Colposcopy
