GPwSI led Dermatology Service that cares for common inflammatory skin disease and painful benign skin tumours.

If it's a simple excision/incision- <5cm, not in a hazardous location- please consider a referral to the Community Minor Surgery Service. Click here for further information.

Please consider using Teledermatology for diagnosis and advice/guidance for ongoing treatment. Requests are responded to within 3 working days- meaning a shorter wait for your patient. They can also manage any onward referral including to Community Dermatology if required. More information on the service can be found here.

Please do not refer to any service for purely cosmetic procedures as these are not funded- see the Evidence Based Interventions policy page


Eligibility criteria

Inclusions

  • Simple excisions
  • Skin biopsy
  • Scalp biopsy
  • Mycology analysis
  • Viral and bacterial swabs

Exclusions

  • All Skin Cancers
  • Children (0-15)
  • Very severe inflammatory skin disease where the patient may need admission, immunosuppressive medication or phototherapy
