We are writing to you to inform you of a brand-new Marie Curie Overnight Rapid Response Nursing Service which started in the borough of City and Hackney on Sunday the 1st of December 2019.This service is delivered by Marie Curie Registered Nurses and Healthcare Assistants, in partnership with St Joseph’s hospice and the CCG. This is an overnight rapidly responding service designed for palliative and end of life patients in City and Hackney and Newham. Operating from 10PM-8AM 7days per week, including bank holidays. The service offers support, information and crisis intervention to patients, families and carers over the telephone and face to face in a patient’s home or usual place of residence. Our Marie Curie nurses can also verify expected death, but the patient must be known to either St Joseph’s Hospice or the Marie Curie Rapid Response team.Marie Curie staff are based at St Joseph’s Hospice. For more information regarding eligibility criteria please refer to the enclosed pathway. If you wish to make a referral into the Marie Curie Overnight Rapid Response Service in either borough we accept and encourage the use of both electronic and telephone referrals. Please see referral form embedded below.
Referrals can be sent to:
Email for Rapid Response: lat.cityhackneyrapidresponse@nhs.net
Telephone for Rapid Response: 07714847133 (only open between 22.00-08.00)
Operational hours: 10PM-8AM
We encourage health care professionals to refer patients electronically if they are in their last phase of life (adhering to the criteria). This allows us to have as much information on the patient, if the patient were to require our service. We respond accordingly to any call of crisis from a patient or carer within our operating hours. A patient may self-refer using St Joseph’s 24 hour support line or by calling us directly.
