Love Hackney Magazine recently featured Homerton Hospital's trial of the "Blood Pressure at Home" programme.
This is to help patients self-monitor and manage hypertension, a condition that can lead to serious health issues. Black African, Black Caribbean, and South Asian populations are at higher risk, particularly in Hackney. The initiative emphasises personalised and culturally sensitive healthcare through collaboration with local GPs and community groups. Lifestyle changes, such as a balanced diet, exercise, reduced salt intake, and prescribed medication, can help manage blood pressure.
