The North East London Primary Care Knowledge Specialist (NELPCKS) service has organised free, fully funded ‘Introduction to Critical Appraisal’ sessions. The NELPCKS project is funded by Health Education England until January 2024 and is hosted by the NELFT Library and Knowledge Service.

These online training sessions are for anyone who is interested in learning how to read and make sense of research findings in healthcare. Topics covered will include; appraising Randomised Controlled Trails, Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis, Diagnostic Studies, Screening Papers, Qualitative Research, and using statistics.
 

Tuesday 13th June 9:30-16:30
 

The course will be open for the Primary Care workforce providing services in the London Boroughs of Barking & Dagenham, City & Hackney, Havering, Newham, Redbridge, Tower Hamlets, and Waltham Forest only. 

In the event of non-attendance/no-show or late cancellation (i.e. less than two weeks prior to the course), attendees may be subject to a charge covering the cost of the training, £100. Contact the NELPCKS team for any further details by emailing nelpcks@nelft.nhs.uk

About the trainer:
John Blenkinsopp is the Clinical Effectiveness Advisor at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust and has taught critical appraisal skills sessions for organisations such as the Royal Society of Pharmaceuticals, the British Medical Association, Kings Fund and Health Education England as well as numerous NHS trusts for many years. John will be available after the session from 16:15/16:30 – 17:00 for any support/tutorials or questions if required.
