Who we are
NHS North East London is the name of our Integrated Care Board – the organisation that replaced NEL CCG on 1 July 2022. We are responsible for planning and commissioning health services across north east London and are accountable for NHS spend and performance, ensuring all parts of the local health system work effectively together.
We set strategies, policies and plans where these are best done at the scale of the whole of north east London. We also set the overall financial strategy for the health system and make sure that everyone can get core services in an appropriate setting.
Our Board, headed by our Chair Marie Gabriel CBE, is responsible for making sure that any decisions we make are made openly, transparently and in line with our stated purpose, values and priorities.
See the membership of our Board and information from their meetings on our website, and the membership of our Executive Management Team (EMT) and their meeting summaries on the intranet.
Our vision and priorities
Our core purpose is to ensure that the population of north east London are healthy and thriving, with good levels of mental wellbeing, and have good access to high quality health and care services that wrap around the individual, and ensure the best possible outcomes.
We will do this by bringing together health partners, local authorities and the voluntary community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector, with residents, patients and service users to improve how we plan and deliver care and support services.
Our agreed ambition as a partnership is that “We will work with and for all the people of north east London to create meaningful improvements in health, wellbeing and equity”.
To help guide our work, together we have agreed four priorities, or joint action areas, where we want to create measurable change, which will create key outcomes for our NHS North East London and place strategies. These are:
Employment and workforce – to work together to create meaningful work opportunities and employment for people in north east London now and in the future.
Long term conditions – to support everyone living with a long-term condition in north east London to live a longer, healthier life and to work to prevent conditions occurring for other members of our community.
Children and young people – to make north east London the best place to grow up, through early support when it is needed and the delivery of accessible and responsive services.
Mental health – to transform accessibility to, experience of and outcomes from mental health services and well-being support for the people of north east London.
Our values
Launched in April 2024, our values are at the heart of and underpin everything we do, guiding how we work together to deliver the ICS vision and priorities and setting the ambition for the culture we aspire to.Our organisational values were developed with staff across our organisation as well as being informed by evidence and best practice on the values, behaviours and cultures that create successful environments in health and care, the wider public sector and beyond, our values set out how we will work with and for all the people of north east London to create meaningful improvements in health, wellbeing and equity.
Our four core values are:
Ambitious – we strive for the best and make a difference by being innovative, courageous and bold.
Collaborative – we work together with local people and each other to find the best solutions.
Inclusive – we are resolute in our pursuit of equity and equality, with mutual respect for all in everything we do.
