In 2020, Michael Rosen was intubated and ventilated. He was in intensive care for 47 days. When he woke up, he had no idea what had happened to him and though doctors and nurses told him, he didn't understand the words they were using. In this meeting, he'll talk about the gaps between the language of medical expertise and how untrained people talk about such matters.

Learning objectives:

Learn from the lived experience of Michael Rosen during the pandemic
Understand how gaps can be created between the language health professionals use and patients
Explore the role of General Practice in bridging the gap between what patients understand or don’t understand
Encourage health practitioners to play with the language they use in their consultations

This session was facilitated by Dr. Patrick Hutt - GP Partner Queensbridge Group Practice, City and Hackney Practitioner Education Lead
