Respiratory Latent TB and Bronchiectasis Management

Rates of active TB are rising nationally and particularly in London, many patients first presentation with active TB is with their GP. The national LTBI screening programme helps to offer treatment to a particular at-risk group (recent arrivals from high TB incidence countries) to reduce future risk of TB reactivation. However, inappropriate testing can lead to significant psychological impact. The management of exacerbations in Bronchiectasis differs from other respiratory conditions, lack of awareness of the national guidance on treatment, across the NHS, results in undertreatment of this patient population.
