Unexplained breathlessness and interstitial lung disease

Unexplained breathlessness and interstitial lung disease (ILD): a practical guide for primary care

Unexplained breathlessness and interstitial lung disease (ILD) affects 1 in 500 people and is a common cause of unexplained breathlessness in primary care, yet diagnostic delays are frequent; with lung cancer screening launching in East London in 2026, GPs will increasingly encounter early ILD and need to know how to investigate and refer appropriately.

I'll use interactive case discussions with real clinical scenarios, incorporate polling questions throughout to gauge understanding and stimulate discussion, provide practical tools including a one-page referral algorithm, and dedicate substantial time for questions to address specific concerns GPs have about recognising and managing ILD in their practice.

Speaker: Dr Jack Callum - Respiratory and TB physician at Homerton Hospital
