Improving Management of Asthma in Primary Care

Poorly controlled asthma can lead to higher risk of exacerbations and poor patient outcomes. Implementation of the new BTS/NICE and SIGN guideline aims to improve diagnostic pathways, medication optimisation and access to specialist care, improving outcomes for patient.

Unfortunately, there remains evidence that of low confidence in the implementation of this guideline across City and Hackney, leading to poorer patient outcomes.

Learning outcomes:

  • Improve confidence in diagnosis
  • Improve confidence in use of the NEL Asthma Prescribing Guideline
  • How to identify patients that might require specialist care – including biologics
