Healthier Together Hackney Service Update
First of all we would like to thank you for all of the referrals that you have made to our referral programmes in 2020.
As a charitable social enterprise everything we do is with our local community in mind, so to do our bit in the national effort and support our community in England, inline with government advice we had to close our leisure centres on the 20th December.
The health and well-being of both our staff and valued members is paramount, and we have a social responsibility to everyone in the local community to take action to protect ourselves and others. We are working closely with local public health authorities to provide alternative light touch virtual support to our service users for the duration of these restrictions.
As with the previous lockdown our Healthier Together Team will continue making calls to support those already on the programme providing motivation and encouragement in order to make healthy lifestyle choices as well as providing social support at this time of social isolation. All participants will be supported with an individualised home programme which includes information on exercising safely at home. For those unable to access the online resources the team have been posting out home programmes and following up with a call to talk through with individuals. Those on the weight management programme have also received additional resources around healthy eating.
Our weight management programmes provide vital support to many individuals looking to lead a healthier and active lifestyle. As such, the Healthier Together service has also developed a new Virtual Weight Management Programme to help bridge the gap created by the pandemic and this platform supports our communities with an innovative, accessible, and safe pathway to leading a healthier lifestyle.
The Virtual Weight Management Programme and Telephone Support Service (PARS) will continue to operate throughout this period of lockdown. This service will be offered to all those who have started a programme as well as any new referrals to the weight management service.
We will keep you up to date when the Centres open and a programme can return to full service. In the meantime if you do have anyone who you wish to refer to the programme we ask that you continue to refer these in the usual way.
